Magic Moments

Our tribute to Jane McIntyre

Following a long, brave and courageous fight against breast cancer, our dear friend and colleague passed away on Sunday 27th June 2010.

Jane began her relationship with The Elizabeth Foundation eighteen yrs ago, when her first baby Sarah was diagnosed with a severe hearing loss. When Sarah left to begin primary school, Jane continued at The Elizabeth Foundation, in the role of Nursery Leader, and gave the children and families she worked with the benefit of her experience, both as a mother of a deaf child, and a knowledgeable professional.

Jane will be remembered for her kindness, tolerance, sense of humour and her ability to give her time to anyone who asked for it. Even in the later stages of her illness when she was very poorly, her answer to the question “How are you?” was turned around quickly to “Oh, I’m fine, but how are you?”

The Elizabeth Foundation is richer in so many ways for knowing Jane, and those who loved her dearly will treasure and always remember her many “Magic Moments". Stuart, Sarah and Aylish have requested that any donations made in Jane’s memory be made to The Rowan’s Hospice, in recognition of the wonderful care that they and Jane received.

Jane's Magic Moments

This short sequence of photos shows Jane at The Elizabeth Foundation in 2007.  There is no sound with the film, which runs for just under 2 minutes.  Press the "play" button when you are ready to view (if your computer won't display the film and control panel, you may need to "allow" your computer to Run the Windows Media Player).

There have been many magic moments at The Elizabeth Foundation, and here are some short films sharing these with you:

In 2001 The Elizabeth Foundation was the subject of a BBC Lifeline Appeal by Michael Parkinson.
