Derek volunteers at The Elizabeth Foundation, providing a wide range of support to our fundraising and admin teams:

“I started my working life in banking and was there for many years until a major re-organisation led to be being surplus to requirements! This was followed by a spell at the Student Loans Company where I moved from admin to software testing. I worked for a software firm who supplied testers to various firms and ended up back in the bank where I started after leaving school.

“Moving south in 2012 I started volunteering at QA Hospital and was there until the pandemic took hold. I returned there for a short time but saw the advertisement for volunteers at The Elizabeth Foundation, which sounded really interesting so I found out more then applied.

“Since starting here I have been involved with the fundraising team – researching companies, helping with summer fayre, contacting various organisation for raffle prizes and generally helping out where required!”
