Ruth is one of our regular Classroom Volunteers.
“I have been a volunteer with The Elizabeth Foundation for nearly seven years now and what an inspiration and personal pleasure it has been.
“With some spare time on my hands and my wish to work with children with additional needs, I contacted the charity to offer help. I was told that they needed cover for staff lunchtime but for the first week only, would I please come at 9.30am to meet everyone. And that’s exactly what happened – only from day one I started to volunteer five hours, once a week working with the preschool children – in at the deep end and I wouldn’t have had it any other way!
“Quite apart from the amazing facilities at the Foundation, all the staff are incredibly enthusiastic, wonderfully patient and so welcoming to the children, their families, visitors and volunteers alike. And of course there is much laughter and happiness throughout the Family Centre – like all little ones, their delightful faces and innocent remarks make it all worth the while!
“It is such a pleasure to walk through the front door knowing that the time with the children is ahead of you and leave feeling you have helped, in some small way, to make a difference to their lives.”
