Working as a team to provide the best support for every deaf child

At The Elizabeth Foundation we believe that to fully support all deaf children it is vitally important to work in partnership and in parallel with other organisations and the many professionals involved with every deaf child.

We strive to support professionals including:

  • Teachers of the Deaf
  • Audiologists
  • Educational Psychologists
  • Paediatricians
  • Speech and Language Therapists
  • Health Visitors
  • Family doctors / GPs

When requested and when possible we contribute to Team Around the Child (TAC) meetings and also to Statements of Special Educational Need.

Finding out about our work

We welcome professionals from local health and education authorities to visit by appointment - both to find out about The Elizabeth Foundation's services and to discuss relevant issues regarding early diagnosis, early support and early intervention. We also run regular Professionals' Days throughout the year - see box on this page for more details.

Supporting the professionals of the future

We also welcome speech and language, medical and teaching students and trainees to visit to come and learn about our services - we hold regular group sessions for students.

We also provide placements when appropriate for trainee Teachers of the Deaf and Speech and Language Therapy students with a particular interest in the effects of deafness on speech and language development.

Research opportunities

We are also keen to work in partnership with any researchers looking to investigate the impact of deafness on early years development.
